Karen M5 StarRe: Baird & Warner Agent Don McCalla.
I approached the impending sale of my mother’s home with dread. My 87-year old mother had unexpectedly needed to move into assisted living. Her home, the family home of 50 years, needed to be readied for sale. I had moved in with her a few years earlier. On top of selling the house, I needed to move as well. I had stored my home’s furniture and other belongings in my mom’s basement. We decided we needed to empty to house for the sale. The home needed major repairs, cosmetic attention, painting and a deep cleaning. I work full-time and am committed to visiting my mom most evenings after work. I had no idea how this was going to be accomplished. I was overwhelmed.
Enter Don McCalla. He sat with me and made a list of everything that needed to be done. He assured me it was not going to be a problem and that he would help with everything. The first thing I needed to do was move myself and belongings out. I decided I was not ready to own again. Don identified townhome and condo rentals in the geographic area I had identified and took me to visit many places. I was leaning toward one but mentioned I had seen an apartment on my own that I liked. He came to see that one with me, too! I decided on that apartment. Don then began helping me move. He showed up and helped on my move day, called and set up donation pickups for me and even set them out for pickup after I had moved. He also set out garbage for me after I moved so I would not have to drive back to do that.
My brothers and I began selecting items and keepsakes we wanted from the home. We decided to donate rather than have an estate sale. Don joined us as we met with a company that literally clears out your house once you remove the items you want. I had moved, so Don took it upon himself to coordinate a time and let that company into the house. I had also asked Don to provide the names of a handyman, painter and cleaning service. Don drew up a detailed list of everything that needed to be done. He had those other services scheduled to begin as soon as the house was cleared out. Don did everything from then on. He met with the handyman to review the list and obtain an estimate. Don let the handyman into the house each day, inspected his work, called him back for a few items and forwarded the bill to me. He did the same with the painter and cleaning service. He called the cleaning service back twice as he was not satisfied with their work. Don basically did everything except pay our bills.
Don presented meticulous research supporting his suggested sale price. I had owned a home in that neighborhood for 15 years before moving in with my mom and felt very comfortable with the price. We had two offers the first day. One was $10,000 less than the asking price with no contingencies and the offer was “as is”. Sold! Again, Don coordinated everything from there and we closed in less than a month.
I couldn’t provide a higher recommendation. Don was absolutely the consummate professional. He is also a compassionate and thoughtful person. He helped me through a very difficult and challenging time in my life. I don’t know how I would have gotten through it without his support and assistance. I doubt you will find another agent that will work harder for youTuesday 6th November 2018
James Fladung1 StarEdwin was the property manager of my rental, in the 3 tenants we had over 5years my house was destroyed and I was swept under the rug because I live in colorado DO NOT USE THESE GUYS EDWIN, FRANK OR ANYONE AT BAIRD AND WARNER FOR PROPERTY MANAGEMENT. unless u want to give your money away to a company and get garbage in return. There were issues brought to my management that were not pass to me the owner, he repeatedly used bad companys to do service on our house (roto rooter among others) I just visited my house and it is a disaster, my renter had a record of issues discussed with Edwin, the information was never passed along to me the home owner, so my advise is do your research and DO NOT PICK BAIRD AND WARNER FOR ANY SERVICES WHAT SO EVER, IT WILL BE THE BIGGEST MISTAKE AS IT WAS FOR USFriday 28th September 2018
